For too long the hopes and aspirations of young people have been overlooked. They have become commoditised and forced into crumbling schools with a curriculum failing to meet the needs of universities, employers and the young people themselves.
Our system of privatised apprenticeships is failing both young people and employers with a drop in apprentices starting in small businesses by 49% since the introduction of the Apprenticeship Levy since 2017 (1).

Education has become a tick box exercise imposing huge mental stress on young people and teachers. With excessive cuts to the education budget through the unnecessary adoption of austerity measures teachers are now leaving in their droves and failing to be replaced as teaching has become a Cinderella profession.
It is time to invest in our future, your future, by making the long overdue investment in education the country clearly requires and our young people deserve.
Green MPs will champion:
An increase in school funding of £8bn, to include £2bn for a pay uplift for teachers.
Supporting every higher education student, with the restoration of grants and the end of tuition fees.
Ending high-stakes testing at primary and secondary schools and abolishing OFSTED.
